3 Things on a Saturday Night
My semi-weekly segment returns: three things on a Saturday night!
I always want to find new and fun ways to feature products and books on my blog. That’s why I wanted to bring back my weekly feature, 3 Things on a Saturday Night. This goes out on Saturdays at noon (noon-ish!), where I’ll be featuring a book, a movie, and a wild card feature (usually a product I’ve had the chance to enjoy!) that will make your weekend a bit more enjoyable (I hope!).
Anyways, let’s get started!
My Book Recommendation for Your Saturday Night:
Saving Vincent by Joan Fernandez | GoodReads
What a book this was! Saving Vincent takes us back to 1891, where Jo van Gogh Bonger learns that Theo, her art dealer husband and brother of Vincent van Gogh, has died. She is left with handling Vincent van Gogh’s treasury of paintings and a mountain of grief, all by herself.
While everyone around her is trying to control her next steps, she breaks free during a time when that wasn’t what women were doing. She’s battling against art dealers who are resistant to Vincent’s impressionist style, all the while raising her son and trying to make a life for herself.
I root for Jo throughout the entire book and loved seeing her overcome her self-doubt and challenge those who wanted her to stop fighting back.
If you want a historical fiction book that will have you rooting for the main character the whole way through, you don’t want to miss this one.
Check it out on GoodReads and get a copy for yourself on Amazon.
My Movie Recommendation for Your Saturday Night
I love writing about movies and get to do so through Tom’s Guide. You’ll find my extensive list of articles here.
However, one I wanted to recommend that you may not have seen before is Strangers in Good Company. It’s a charming indie movie featuring a group of elderly women on a trip to the nearby countryside. When their bus breaks down, it gives them a chance to share about each other’s lives. What I find most remarkable is that when they start telling their own stories, these are actually true stories from these women’s lives.

My Wild Card Recommendation
Going perfectly with my book recommendation are these POSCA paint markers. I’m honored to share that a good friend of mine tried these out with her kids and they were a big hit! If you love to color or draw, no matter your age, you will want to pick these up. They were smooth and easy to use and made for some beautiful bold coloring, check this out:
Purchase a set on Amazon for only about $17! They’re sure to be a fun addition for the weekend.
There we go! Those are my three things for your Saturday night! What’s on your agenda this weekend? Let me know in the comments.
